Team Up! Team-Based Primary & Community Care in Action is a webinar and podcast series that aims to connect individuals and teams, identify tools to apply to current work underway and share experiences in team-based care across the province.
Hear from Doctors of BC Practice Improvement Coaches on the importance of creating a positive foundation for practicing in a team-based environment. Coaches will review some key tools they use to support teams in embarking on team-based care, to support clarity and a team vision. Practice Improvement Coaches will discuss their experiences with the approach and how this may apply to your team or clinic. Coaches will share their experiences and highlight some key learnings from this work that will help you and your teams effectively support your team.
Learning Objectives
- Learn how using Team Agreements or Charters can support communication and reduce conflict in primary care teams.
- Review the key elements of a team charter or agreement and how to develop that through team conversations.
- Teams will understand how they can implement a Team Agreement for their own team and/or clinic, and how to “live the commitments as a team.

Speaker Bios
Joanne Styles is a provincial Team-Based Care Practice Improvement coach with the Practice Support Program. Her goals are to support Primary Care Teams to engage in conversations to support planning, strengthening, implementation, and sustainment of TBC principles. The foundation of all of her work is relationship building; with the belief that maintaining and sustaining longitudinal relationships with her clients acts as a key catalyst to driving significant, positive change in the healthcare landscape. When Joanne is not working, you can find her exploring nature, playing fetch with her cats, tending to her many plants, or traveling around the world.
Carleigh Reynolds works for Doctors of BC as a Practice Improvement Coach with a focus on Team-Based Care. She has worked in health care for 30 years and brings her past experience as well passion for Primary Care into supporting teams to become high-functioning. As a Team-Based Care Coach, she provides at the elbow support to primary care teams across the province that is flexible and customized based on the team’s needs. She is a mother to a busy seven year old daughter. Together, they enjoy trips to their family cabin on the Sunshine Coast, making crafts, going for long forest walks, experimenting with cameras and snuggling with their sweet cat.
Wendy Boyer‘s present role is within Doctors of BC as a Provincial Practice Improvement Coach within a focused role of Team-Based Care. She is committed to making change possible and fun one step at a time drawing on over 27 years of experience in the healthcare system in both acute and primary care with specialized coaching skills in change management and conflict dispute resolution methodology and facilitating conflict coaching. Her day-to-day focus is to mentor and support primary care teams across the province to engage in vital conversations from any diverse starting point simple to advance. When she is not doing this coaching gig, she can be found hiking, growing flowers, and having many adventures like jumping in the lake or on the trampoline with her grandkids.
