Care Activity Definitions
Assess and Support Hormonal Contraception | The Nurse can autonomously educate, assess, and determine the best hormonal contraceptive for patients. The nurse can independently implant or remove implanted progestin-only hormonal contraception. |
Care Coordination | Includes coordination with other teams (home care, etc.) and hospital admissions and discharges. |
Casting & Splinting | With a client specific order, can apply a cast or splint for a fracture of a bone. |
Chronic Disease Follow-up: Complex chronic care case management | The Nurse can collaboratively manage unstable and unpredictable chronic illness with general and patient specific care plans, including educating, assessing, and monitoring health status for people living with chronic illnesses. |
Chronic Disease Follow-up: Routine follow-up visits | The Nurse can autonomously educate, assess, and monitor health status for people living with stable and predictable chronic illnesses (e.g., monitor adherence, take vitals, etc.) WITH patient specific orders. |
Diagnose and treat STIs | The Nurse can autonomously diagnose and treat STIs and contacts of STIs. |
Ear Syringing | Can provide ear irrigation to remove ear wax or foreign objects from the ear. |
Group Education: Deliver premade education sessions on specified topics (e.g., nutrition, diabetes) | The Nurse can facilitate established patient educational workshops. |
Group Education: Develop and run group visits for patients with chronic illnesses (e.g., diabetes) including both education and clinical assessment components. | The Nurse can develop and facilitate established patient educational workshops to address the general learning needs of patients. |
Immunizations: Routine Immunizations (4 years and older) | The Nurse can autonomously administer routine immunizations to people 4 years and older. The nurse is NOT required to administer travel vaccinations. |
Immunizations: Routine immunizations (All Ages) | The Nurse can autonomously administer routine immunization and are NOT required to administer travel vaccinations. |
Immunizations: Travel Immunizations | The Nurse can autonomously administer routine travel immunizations. |
Opioid Use Disorder: Start and Maintain Suboxone | The Nurse can autonomously medically diagnose and treat (including prescribing) opioid use disorder. |
Urgent/Episodic Care: Diagnose and Treat Adult Acute Bronchitis | The Nurse can autonomously assess, medically diagnose, and treat adult acute bronchitis. |
Urgent/Episodic Care: Diagnosis & Treat Otitis Media | The Nurse can autonomously asses, medically diagnose and treat otitis media. |
Urgent/Episodic Care: Triage | The Nurse can assess undifferentiated illness that presents to a primary care clinic either in-person or via phone. |
Urinary Tract Infections: Dx & Tx All Lower UTIs | The Nurse can diagnose and treat lower UTIs in all populations |
Urinary Tract Infections: Dx & Tx Lower UTIs in Adult Females | The Nurse can diagnose and treat UTIs in ADULT FEMALES |
Wound Care: Extensive Wound Care | The nurse can autonomously complete wound care that involves a wound BELOW the dermis. |
Wound Care: Superficial Wound Care | Autonomously provide wound care NOT below the dermal layer. |
