Join us on June 16 for the final instalment of Season 2 Team Up! Team-Based Primary and Community Care in Action featuring the Chickadee Maternity Collaborative (the Collaborative) and their approach to team-based care. We will learn how the local physicians and midwives, the South Peace Division of Family Practice and Northern Health worked together to meet a need for maternity care in Dawson Creek. Team members will share their experiences working together in this team-based care model and highlight some tools they’ve found helpful along the way. Check out this news article about the Collaborative for more information!

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn about the history and evolution of the Collaborative.
  2. Hear about team members experiences and how they work together in this model.
  3. Relate your experience(s) with team-based care to others working in primary and community care teams across BC.
  4. Identify opportunities for strengthening team-based care at your local sites.

I am thankful for the opportunity to work with the team of professionals at the Chickadee Maternity Collaborative clinic. I’ve enjoyed working with the lovely people at the Dawson Creek Health Unit since May. When I’m not working I spend as much time as possible with my two wonderful children. I think that this new clinic is going to be a blessing to our community.

Dr. Magda du Plessis

MBChB, DFM, CCFP

I am a medical doctor in primary and advanced obstetrics, operative delivery.

I joined the Mile Zero clinic in 2017. Born and raised in South Africa, my family and I relocated to Canada in 2010.

When I was in the 9th grade I first fell in love with medicine, especially maternal fetal medicine. I realized early on in my education and career that I had a passion for Women’s Health, Obstetrics and newborn care. There is a very special feeling that comes with the care of a patient during the journey of pregnancy, delivery and the first moments of celebration of a new life.

During my down time, I cherish spending it with my husband and two beautiful children. We love playing UNO, running around outside with our dogs, quadding, spending time with friends or just relaxing while we watch a movie. We are very excited that our vision for Chickadee is coming to life. Thank you to everyone involved and I look forward to the journey we are about to embark on!
